After several long-winded blogs about the financial mess, I have one that is very brief and succinct. I’m glad to see that the bailout plan was not authorized without debate, there’s still a little hope that we won’t become a completely socialist country quite as soon as I’d feared. As you listen to the pundits and politicians on radio and television, take note of their demeanor and attitude-I have.
Those who want YOU to pay for the mistakes of others, both with your hard-earned money and with another chunk of your freedom sacrificed will take on a lament of almost religious proportions. Please take a few minutes to read the draft of this insane 'plan': http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/business/21draftcnd.html
To find out exactly who is willing to sell you out, just listen for their “all or nothing” pitch. The thieves and liars will be shocked that the government hasn’t already given god-like powers to one ‘money czar’. The thieves and liars will posit the illogic that “it’s more dangerous to do nothing so we must act NOW”. The thieves and liars will ask you to put your future and your children’s future back in the hands of the greedy, amoral jerks that brought us to this mess. Look for those signs as they speak. I'm willing to cast MY vote and future behind the first candidate who comes out AGAINST this travesty!
The truth is that no one man should be given this kind of power, it’s a recipe for corruption and mismanagement. It’s also un-American and unconstitutional! The truth is that there are a broad range of possible actions that exist between the absolutes of ‘doing nothing’ and delivering instant absolute power to a man who reigned over the mess and now asks us to put him above the law. The truth is ‘doing something right now’ could well be the worst possible thing to do. Has anyone stated a literal prediction of what would happen if we actually did nothing? I haven't heard such a scenario put forward. I’ve only heard vague and dire generalities such as “the world collapse of the financial system that will touch us all". Really? How would it touch you? Do you work on Wall Street? Do you work in an investment bank? Do you hold a bad mortgage that you can’t already refinance under the new rules? I can assure you that you will be adversely touched by the rapid devaluation of your dollars that will be inevitable with the printing of the new bills it will take to create a trillion-dollar deal. You will be touched by the tax increase that will be needed to pretend to pay this bad debt. You will be touched by the fact that you will no longer have a voice in your democracy because the thieves and liars have blackmailed the country into an economic Coup d'état. Henry Paulsen has already uttered the caveot, "but we have no guarantees that this (bailout plan) will work". What kind of fools run this nation? What kind of fools are we?
